Charlie Manuel Manager Of The Year In 2002?

Very Good Possibilty since we lost some good players, Manuel's managerial skills could net us 90 Wins again. That would be an accomplishment if he can pull it off. Personally I think he is the best manager we have ever had.

Wally -- Charlie is far from the best manager we have ever had. However, it will be extremely interesting to see what he does this year. I am one of those who believes the Indians can still win the Central this year, and I do agree at least for now that Charlie is the right man for the job.

If Manuel wins 80 games with the lineup Shapiro is putting together for him, he deserves to be manager of the year.

Brady Anderson batting leadoff?? Thome in the clean up spot?? Can Gutierrez make the switch to 2b?? Can Sabathia deliver wins like last season with a punch and judy lineup?? Can any of the Indians current pitchers consistently hold opposing teams to three runs or less?? What do we really know about Milton Bradley?? Will Fryman be healthy enough to contribute more this season?? How many K's would Thome and Branyan have if they played at least 160 games each??

Just too many questions and very few answers at this point. Let's wait till spring training before we begin to annoint our beloved Indians the winner of the woeful AL Central. The White Sox have had a good off season and the Twins gave us all we could handle last season before they ran out of gas. This season is a crap shoot, anything could happen but regardless who wins the division, just how far will they go in the playoffs?? This is going to be one very interesting season; Let the fun begin!!

Nightwing and Genuis, Charlie has won 180 games in the last two yrs with all the injuries we have had, better than what Grover could do!

Hey Wally, how many World Series appearances or ALCS have we been to or won with Manuel??

Didnt the Mariners win more games than anyone last season and they were bounced by the Yankees in the ALCS??

It doesnt matter how many games you win during the season, it matters when it's money time and Hargrove delivered. If not for Jose Mesa melting down vs the Marlins, Grover and the '97 Indians would have rings.

As Genius said, put down the bottle and get a designated driver. Good guy Charlie will be the sacrificial lamb either by or during the All Star break. (Provided his tummy holds up). I like Charlie as a person and I wish him the best. But, he is not a major league manager. He'd have been better off staying in Japan and managing there.

Just read the beginning of this thread and all I can say is WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Charlie Manuel?!?
A blind monkey could have filled out line-up cards the last two years and come up with TWO AL Central Championships and won at Least one post-season series.
Charlie will not even finish the year with the Tribe. He will be the designated scapegoat when this team starts to suck (which it will in its present condition) and he will be fired. End of story.
